Website hosting fees are becoming more expensive every year. Hosting fees used to be reasonable, but the market has changed to where the first year is fine, but after that fees start to soar, and changing hosts frequently is a tedious and time-consuming process. Notes from the Indiana Jones chronology

This story takes place in 1936.

Notes from The Lost Journal of Indiana Jones

The Lost Journal of Indiana Jones is a 2008 publication that purports to be Indy's journal as seen throughout The Young Indiana Chronicles TV series and the big screen Indiana Jones movies. The publication is also annotated with notes from a functionary of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation, the successor agency of the Soviet Union's KGB security agency. The KGB relieved Indy of his journal in 1957 during the events of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The notations imply the journal was released to other governments by the FSB in the early 21st Century. However, some bookend segments of The Young Indiana Chronicles depict Old Indy still in possession of the journal in 1992. The discrepancy has never been resolved.

The journal as published does not mention the events of this issue, going from the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1936 to Indy's recovery of the Cross of Coronado in 1938 in The Last Crusade.

Didja Notice?

This issue opens on the Hwang River in China in 1936. This is an actual river in Central China.

On page 1, the member of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) who was killed (as revealed in the previous issue, "Shot By Both Sides") was Patrick McManus.

When Cobb tries to take command of his and Indy's foray into Weng Ho's territory, Indy admonishes him to spare the General Pershing routine. U.S. General John J. Pershing (1860-1948) was the General of the Armies of the United States at the time, from 1917 until his death in 1948. He was praised for his leadership and military acumen throughout his career.

Panel 5 of page 2 has Indy recite the incidents in "Shot By Both Sides" to Cobb to catch the reader up on events!

In this issue, Marcus is depicted as white-haired and mostly bald!

On page 7, Indy jokes about catching the bus to Shanghai.

On page 12, Indy tells Cobb, "...we're making this up as we go along..."

On page 16, the late Patrick McManus is mistakenly referred to as Sean McManus.

Weng Ho exclaims to his prisoners Cobb and Indy that the IRA's money has helped to pay for an army powerful enough to overthrow Chiang Kai-Shek's democracy. Chiang Kai Shek (1887-1975) was the revolutionary leader of the Republic of China from 1928-1949 until his government was overthrown by the Chinese Communist Party.

At the end of the story, Indy ships Cobb's body back to Ireland and the Chinese mummy to the states for the National Museum from the port city of Tsingtao.
